Visit Bath: New Year’s Eve in Bath

When Christmas is over it can feel as if there is nothing to look forward to, but in Bath there definitely is…

One event that is now a tradition in Bath for New Year, is a New Year concert at Bath’s Forum. Usually the concert is on the first of January but this year it’s taking place on New Year’s Eve, which means that you don’t have to worry about getting up on New Year’s Day if you want to have a big night out and enjoy the concert as well!

Following their sold out event last year, the London Gala Orchestra say they have “a show to surpass all your expectations for 2017!” The theme of the show is Viennese Dreams, and will include a host of Viennese classics, with two award-winning singers and the 32 piece London Gala Orchestra; plus a Champagne lottery, pyrotechnics and Auld Lang Syne with a Scottish piper to finish. Booking is a must though, and can be done through their website at http://www.londongalaorchestra.co.uk/new-year-concerts/.

In the evening one of our suggestions for a great New Year in Bath is Komedia’s Krater Comedy Club and Motorcity Gold event. Komedia are hosting “three great stand-ups and the best comperes in the business”. After the Krater Comedy Club NYE Special (which includes an incredible meal prepared by their Soil Association Gold Standard award-winning restaurant) will be dancing until the small hours at Motorcity Gold. The Motorcity Resident DJs RockerRoller & Eddie Boy will be playing a full mix of the best motown, soul, funk, disco, and rock ‘n’ roll.  There will also be a free Prosecco reception for those first through Komedia’s doors, and a professional photo booth to have fun in. This is sure to be another sell-out event so it’s worth booking early. Tickets for both events can be bought via https://www.komedia.co.uk/bath/christmas/krater-comedy-club-nye/.

Our other pick for a Bath New Year’s night out is the NYE 2016 caleidh at the stunning Guild Hall. The theme is Dress To Impress (any era except the present day) and the night will consist of a Caleidh (pronouced Kay-Lee), with a live band and caller, and no excuse not to dance! (If you’ve not been to caleidh before you have to try one!) There will be a cash Bar in the Aix En Provence room and Farthingale, one of the organisers behind the night, can provide costumes if needed (to hire or buy). Tickets to this event also include a dance workshop in the afternoon, 2pm - 3pm, with the caller and caleidh band who will teach you some of the dances beforehand if you’d like (though it’s by no means essential), and can be purchased at: https://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Bath/The-Guildhall/NYE-2016-Guildhall-Bath/12866122/#eventticketsbox

After the mad rush of Christmas it can feel as if there’s nothing to look forward to, so our suggestion is to pre-empt the post-Christmas blues and book a weekend city break for New Year in Bath. We’d love to welcome you to the city to see in the New Year in style!
